It’s true, Arlene Schulz, President of the Friends’ board, doesn’t like most fiction. Arlene likes unusual volumes which pertain to music, astrology, alternative healing, gardening (English roses and peonies), horseracing, spirituality, some types of cooking (although she doesn’t cook, she admires that in her friends!). Her childhood favorite, White Stallion of Lipizza by Marguerite Henry is a story of determination and love of a special white horse (no, she never got one).  The most unusual book Arlene found at a booksale was a vintage edition of Poems of W.S.Gilbert; “They intend to send a wire to the moon……” (Princess Ida).
